Are you asking yourself questions like "Why are we so disconnected?" or "When will we get time to find each other again?"

It can be hard to maintain and grow an intimate emotional connection with your loved ones when your career demands that you to protect your emotions. Your family may struggle sometimes with the emotional disconnect. You may feel torn between two worlds trying to find a way to connect with both every day. As a significant other you may feel waves of fear over losing your loved one, waves of relief when they get home and waves of loneliness when they are gone. Working with a therapist who understands the unique struggles your family faces can help strengthen your relationship and build your emotional connection.

You deserve happiness in both your homelife and your career.

If you are:
  • Trying to understand the impact of the job on yourself and your relationships
  • Feeling alone or like your needs are often second to the job
  • Struggling to communicate with your partner, family, or friends
  • Looking for someone who understands the unique, often traumatic experiences of a first responder
... then you're in the right place.

Our first responders are tasked with living in multiple roles, often needing to shift quickly from one to the other. They are often witness to or directly experience horrific events, and it can feel like no one understands or can tolerate hearing about it. It leaves them feeling isolated, and family and friends feeling shut out. Therapy with someone who specializes in first responders is different because your therapist has the ability to be present with you and create a safe place in which you can talk about these experiences and learn to connect more deeply with the world around you.
